Possible War Crimes for ‘Drug Boat’ Strikes
Since Sept. 2, 2025, at least 87 people have died in the US’ repeated airstrikes on alleged drug-smuggling boats from Venezuela and Colombia.
US officials claim they were acting in self-defense, but the strikes have gained serious attention for suspected war crimes due to follow-up strikes on survivors. According to AP News, legal experts have said killing survivors of a strike at sea could be a violation of the laws of military warfare.
As of Dec. 5, 2025, there have been 22 different strikes, the most recent being on Dec. 4, 2025, on a boat found along what the US Southern Command claims is a ‘common narco-trafficking route’.
Chicago Bears Win Streak Defeated by Green Bay Packers
On Sunday, Dec. 7, the Bears gave up their spot as the #1 team in the NFC North after losing a hard-fought game to Green Bay 28-21.
Prior to the loss, week 13 left the Chicago Bears with a 9-3 record. The Bears had won five games in a row after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 24-15 on Friday, Nov. 28.
With the victory, the Packers moved into first in the NFC North with a record of 9-3-1. The Bears, on the other hand, dropped from the No. 1 seed to the No. 7 seed in the conference with a 9-4 record as a result of the loss.
Snow Storms
Following Thanksgiving week, record-breaking snowstorms across the nation resulted in severe consequences for travelers. According to the National Weather Service, Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025 was named the single most snowy calendar day in November for the Chicago area.
Over 1,300 flights from O’Hare International Airport were cancelled due to the storm—and many more were delayed—according to NBC Chicago. In addition, Illinois State Police reported that between 5 a.m. and 11:30 p.m., Chicago troopers responded to 414 crashes with property damage and another 66 with passenger injuries.
While snowfall has seemed to settle, many are still feeling the impacts to their work commutes and travel plans.
