Trump Depicts Himself As Jesus Using AI

On April 13, President Trump uploaded an AI-Generated image of himself on his Truth Social account. This highly controversial post resulted in mass public backlash, leading to Trump later deleting said post. The image portrayed Trump in religious robes, traditionally associated with Jesus, healing a sick, elderly man with eagles and the U.S. flag in the background. For many, this post was a mockery of the Christian faith; even some of Trump’s most loyal supporters were outraged.

Although the post was taken down, Trump has not formally apologized. Instead, he mentioned that he believed the image depicted him as a doctor helping people, and he believes the public is confused.

This is not the first time Trump has made a disputable post on his social media. In the past, when Pope Francis died, Trump posted a photo of himself as the Pope, claiming that he would like to be the next Pope. He has also posted racist AI-generated videos of former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as apes.

The Iran-U.S. War Continues

Conflict between the United States and Iran has continued to escalate despite peace efforts. On April 11 and April 12, peace talks between the countries at war were hosted in Pakistan. The two countries even agreed to have a two-week period of ceasefire. Although there were no finalized ceasefire deals between the two countries made during the peace talks, Pakistan has invited both countries again to send their delegates back to continue negotiations.

However, this second peace talk may not happen as Iran has refused to talk again with the U.S., stating that it sees the U.S.’s naval blockade as a breach of the ceasefire. Meanwhile, Trump has accused Iran of violating the ceasefire due to the country’s continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

O’Hare to Cut Down on Flights Out of the Airport

There are some changes coming to O’Hare airport for summer travel. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has ordered a cap to be put on the amount of flights at the airport “to prevent widespread flight delays” during the busiest time for travel. This new order, which comes due to the new expansion plans of the airport, will limit the number of flights out of O’Hare to 2,708 daily, resulting in the cancellation of as many as 372 flights per day. Initially, O’Hare had 3,080 flights on its busiest days of the summer. The order will go into effect on May 17 and last until October 24.

Bad Weather Tears Through Illinois

On Friday, April 17, a tornado touched down in Lena, located in Northwest Illinois. Reports say there is extensive damage to the town. No deaths or injuries have been reported, but Sheriff Steve Stovall has asked people to completely avoid going to Lena as “there is no way to get into town due to trees and wires [being] down,” and so search and rescue and clean up crews can work efficiently. Other areas were affected by the bad weather that’s making its way through much of the Midwest, with many being put under tornado watches and warnings throughout the week of April 13. Additionally, at least 29 other tornadoes were confirmed to have touched down in Illinois over the weekend.
