The musical is set in a small Midwest town in the summer of 1955, shown through the leather jackets and neck scarves worn by the ensemble. Erdmann and Sterner perform A Little Less Conversation in this scene.

Erdmann dresses up as a man in disguise to win the affection of Sterners character. During this scene at the town museum, ensemble members stood on boxes in the background and later performed as dancing statues.

The set crew worked behind the scenes, creating the moving bus and bicycle props used by seniors Sarah Donofrio and Will Anderson.

Juniors Abby Gourley and Johnny Thames performed as Mayor Matilda Hyde and Sheriff Earl, who later declared his love for the mayor.

The pit orchestra included seniors Sean Devaney, Alex Tang, and Jack Govern playing the saxophone and senior Emily Waddick on the oboe.
