From above, it’s easy to spot its grand oak trees which were exemplify what Lake County looked like before it was settled.

Independence Grove Forest Preserve, a frequent destination of many Libertyville students, is a popular place throughout the whole year; Summer activities include hiking, running, kayaking, among others; while during the winter, the preserve opens for ice fishing, snow shoeing, and more.

This year, as a junior, Emma Gleason was a finalist in the 100 Fly, finishing fifth in the state. Gleason has qualified for state all three years of her LHS swim career so far, earning All-State recognition her sophomore and junior years.

Mrs. Cote has been connected to LHS for some time. Before her six years working as a teacher support clerk in the Teacher’s Center, she’s had four kids graduate from Libertyville. Cote’s job allows her to interact with the LHS staff, which she enjoys, becoming known by her colleagues to always put others before herself.

Bagels by the Book, a go-to breakfast spot for Libertyville residents, is opening back up after being closed for about three months. Renovations and improvements within the restaurant are being made to accompany its return.
