Come Stop by the Art Show to See Original Work by Your Peers!

On Thursday, May 21 and Friday, May 22, Libertyville High School will be having its annual Art Show in the main gym to display all of the artwork that students in regular and AP art classes have worked on throughout the year. The show will take place from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday and  7:30 a.m.-noon on Friday. Everyone is welcome to attend, including friends, family members, and teachers.

“I think it’s awesome when gym teachers take their classes to the show so they can see what their peers did,” said junior AP art student Lauren Mclaughlin.

AP art students are mainly in charge for setting up and cleaning up the entire show. They also have the special opportunity to create their own booth where they display all of their artwork from the year in creative ways. Two students will share a booth, decorate it according to their artwork, and have an interactive aspect to their booth.

Regular art students will have their pieces, which include paintings, jewelry, and pottery,  scattered about. Over the course of the year, AP students were required to create 24 pieces. 12 of them are breadth or freestyle pieces and the other 12 are concentration pieces, which all center around a central theme. Some of the students themes include things like circus, nature and people, and the advantages of youth.

Unfortunately, students were required to send their five best pieces to the AP exam board for grading, so those five pieces will not be included at the art show, but they have plenty of other work to show off.
