Seniors personalize carpool parking spots

Twisting the words of their parking “space,” seniors Carrie Jeffrey and Jess McLennan created a different dimension in their spot.

With already limited parking at LHS, the amount of spaces was cut even more last year due to the new pool construction. In an attempt to allow more seniors the chance to park on campus, school administrators implemented a new program this year, offering the option to carpool to school with one or more fellow seniors in order to secure a spot.

There are currently 87 numbered spots reserved for students carpooling. The compromise came along with some perks, such as monthly gift card lotteries and a permanent numbered spot close to the building. Seniors were then able to distinguish their spots by decorating them with paint. The designs had to first get approved by an administrator, then the students spent a weekend prior to the start of school creating their artwork.
