I am a sophomore here at Libertyville and this is my first year on the Drops of Ink staff. I play for the high school volleyball team, and I am also involved in Random Acts of Kindness club, Student Council, as well as Best Buddies.

Cyrus Johnson participates in the gymnastics unit of Mr. Adam Stuart’s sophomore P.E. class. Next year, some sophomore P.E. classes will separate boys and girls during a small unit on self-defense training for girls.

The colorful symbols in this illustration represent good deeds, such as smiles and generosity. The figure on the left symbolizes a kind person, and on the right is a nice person. The key difference between the two is that being nice is randomly performing short-lived friendly actions. Being kind is not just giving bits of joy, but embodying compassion. Being kind is not just defined by what you do here and there, but by who you are and what you stand for.

While watching Turnabout Court members’ videos, several teachers share a laugh.

Seniors belt out the lyrics to “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield in the karaoke competition. They “finished the lyric” for the longest time, leading to their victory in the competition.

The junior class sings along enthusiastically to “Sweet Caroline” in the karaoke class competition following Principal Dr. Tom Koulentes’ carpool karaoke video.

Choir teacher Dr. Jeff Brown (middle) and some choir students arranged a video of the national anthem filled with complex harmonies. This video was a surprise for the audience because, in the past, the song has generally been performed live.

The band will be performing at another school function on Sunday, Feb. 18, as part of Caring for Cambodia’s Band Jam.
