LHS Varsity Wrestling Gets the Victory
The Cats won against Stevenson by a score of 41-31 at their Dec. 3 varsity dual meet. The wrestlers put up an amazing fight, scoring several pins while fighting tooth and nail for their takedowns.
“We had a lot of bonus points today,” said Coach Eggert, reflecting on his wrestlers’ great overall performance of the night. “That made a huge difference.”
The LHS student section, sporting all white, cheered on the wrestlers, chanting their names and shouting out words of encouragement, something the head coach appreciated.
“They were really into it and they gave our guys quite the boost, for which our team is very thankful,” Coach Eggert remarked in an email.
Josh Knudten, a senior varsity wrestler, got one of the several pins needed to aid in the victory.
“I just felt great knowing that I pumped the crowd up and helped the team in a good way,” Knudten explained.
The LHS Wrestling Team hosts the next meet in the Main Gym against Vernon Hills and Waukegan this Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
