On Feb 18 2025, the Libertyville Wildcats hosted their western conference rivals, the Mundelein Mustangs. This game was special because it was senior night for Libertyville where six varsity players were celebrated for the Wildcats. Those were Trevor Wallace (2), Ben Kristopher (3), Nick Farmakis (5), Owen Epley (20), Jack Cenar (25) and Bryce Wegrzyn (32).
In addition, this was also the last game of the regular season for Libertyville, so ending the year with a win was of great importance. This was in addition to the fact that going into this game the Cats were just 1-4 in their last five games.
Wegrzyn (32) won the opening tip off to give Libertyville the first possession of the game. Mere seconds after the first quarter had begun, Kristopher (3) hit a three-point shot that got the Wildcat offense going instantly.
There was no turning back after that for Libertyville. The Cats were dominant on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.
Wegrzyn (32) scored 20 points before being pulled late in the game along with most of the other starters. Big plays were in abundance Wednesday night for Libertyville as both Epley (20) and Wallace (2) hit contested three-pointers to extend the lead over the Mustangs.
In the end, Libertyville dominated their conference rivals from the start with an outstanding 65-43 win over Mundelein. This secured their record at 15-12 and winning percentage on the season of just over 0.500 at 0.556. The Wildcats are 8-6 against North Suburban Conference opponents this year, and as of Feb 19 they are 4th in the North Suburban Conference (NSC).
Though Libertyville doesn’t have any more games in the regular season, Mundelein has two more games which are Away at Jacobs and Home vs. Waukegan.
