Current sophomore Emily Regan will also be a part of the 2016-17 Exec Board. She said she would like to thank everyone who voted for her. Next year, Regan hopes to create an app for LHS students that allows them to check in, based on location, at sporting events and music events. By checking in, students would be able to get points based on their attendance and potentially win prizes. Regan also wants to create a tailgate the Friday morning before homecoming where LHS students can paint themselves and get spirited for their class’s theme.

Emily Regan

Q: What do you want people to know about you?

A: I want people to know that I’m extremely hard-working, dedicated, and outgoing! I will commit to and do everything in my power to get people more involved in school activities and to make high school a more enjoyable experience for everyone involved. I’m in eight clubs at LHS, so I know lots of people of all different backgrounds and ages, and I believe it is so important to hear the voices of everyone. Additionally, because of outside organizations that I am apart of, specifically the Reality Illinois program and Youth Advisory Board, I have connections with Illinois policy makers and the Mayor.

Q: Why are you running for Exec Board and what are your plans if you are voted on?

A: As a potential Executive Board member, I would like to make a great effort to involve LHS students from all aspects of school-life in Student Council events and school events. I’m a huge proponent of the idea of having other clubs participate in charity events/fundraisers/activities with Student Council to promote cooperation and sharing of ideas between clubs. I’m in seven clubs at LHS, outside of Student Council, so it would be very possible for me to coordinate this. I also would work to get more people involved in Homecoming “color wars.” The morning of the Friday before Homecoming, every class could meet in a designated outside area (football field, grassy knoll, softball fields, and football practice field) and “tailgate” by using paint and getting bandannas and other spirit wear. Another potential idea is an LHS app, where people can look at it for updates about themes for games, info about dances, and other STUCO activities. As someone who is in many different activities with many different people, I’ve seen the amazing products that come from many different people working together for a shared cause. As an Exec Board member I would work to get maximum participation in all school events through incentive programs as well as get as many people possible from many different clubs working together for a great cause.

Q: How long have you been a part of Student Council?

A: I’ve been a part of Student Council for one year, and I’ve enjoyed every second of it!
