Boy’s Water Polo takes their second win against Deerfield

The Libertyville boys water polo team got off to a strong start. On March 11, they competed at home against Deerfield in front of a large crowd. The boys finished with a winning score of 17-6, making their record 2-0. Standing out in this game were freshman Eric Sparks with six goals and junior Simon Amyot with seven goals.

Senior co-captain Grant Angelbeck scores a point against the Blue Devils in the two singles match. Angelbeck, who won his sets 6-1 and 6-0, said that he is “looking forward to improving my consistency throughout this season.”

Senior Sophia Weick (13) pulls a spin move on the scattered Lake Forest defensive line. Weick, a captain of the team alongside senior Leah Chung and junior Sophie Lee, scored twice throughout the game.

Sophomore Logan Tayfel (2) takes the ball into Falcon territory, pursued by Wheaton North junior midfielder Sean DeValk (15). Logan Tayfel and his brother Jacob Tayfel each scored once in the game’s second quarter. Logan Tayfel called the game’s ending an “amazing finish to this game today.”
