Wildcats claim first victory of the new season under new head coach

Ranked 14th in the Daily Herald’s preseason girls soccer Top 20 poll, the Cats started their season off on the right foot as they prevailed over the Hersey Huskies 1-0 on Thursday, March 14. With wind gusts over 20 mph, the game got off to a slow start as the scoreboard remained blank until late into the second half. Sophomore Lauren Huber, a two-year varsity starter, drilled in the only goal of the game with just over 10 minutes left in the game.

The Libertyville girls soccer program has hired their fourth coach — Daniel DePaz — within the last four years, yet they didn’t seem to miss a beat with their play, in part because the team returns 11 players from last year.
