Ranked 14th in the Daily Herald’s preseason girls soccer Top 20 poll, the Cats started their season off on the right foot as they prevailed over the Hersey Huskies 1-0 on Thursday, March 14. With wind gusts over 20 mph, the game got off to a slow start as the scoreboard remained blank until late into the second half. Sophomore Lauren Huber, a two-year varsity starter, drilled in the only goal of the game with just over 10 minutes left in the game.

The Libertyville girls soccer program has hired their fourth coach — Daniel DePaz — within the last four years, yet they didn’t seem to miss a beat with their play, in part because the team returns 11 players from last year.
