Drops of Ink staffers work through an issue cycle

The Wednesday morning after the story idea meeting, the Editorial Board, which consists of the publication’s 10 student editors, meet to choose what stories will be in the next magazine. These meetings usually take around 50 minutes because each editor has their own set of stories they specifically want to see in the magazine.

The Journalism Education Association has designated the week of Feb. 18-24 to be Scholastic Journalism Week. This week is held in hopes that “students will serve to raise community consciousness regarding the benefits of scholastic journalism.” Drops of Ink decided to celebrate this week with this slideshow, a bake sale outside the cafeteria while displaying old issues, and certain staff members wrote about their experiences with DOI and journalism.
