Boys basketball comfortably win against Waukegan

Junior Josh Steinhouse (11) watches teammate senior Drew Peterson (23) as he sets up an isolation play.

On Friday, Jan. 26, Drew Peterson and the Wildcats thoroughly handled the Waukegan Bulldogs. Peterson made a statement to all scouts who may have been questionable about him. Waukegan used traps, man defense, guards, forwards and centers in an effort to stop Libertyville’s leading scorer; however, Waukegan still had difficulties stopping Peterson. With a buzzer-beater at the end of the second and third quarters, Peterson notched 35 points by the end of the victory.

Although Peterson was the leading scorer in this contest, Waukegan’s junior forward Bryant Brown had 30 points himself. After this loss, Waukegan moved to 10-9 overall, with a 3-5 record in the conference. Libertyville is now the outright leader in the conference with a record of 6-2 with a record of 12-7 overall. They are currently a half game ahead of rivals Warren and Stevenson.
