“I remember the transition pretty well because a couple weeks beforehand, my dad was talking to me about going to the U.S (from Brazil), and I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s pretty cool,’ but I didn’t really know what the U.S. was because I was like 4…I really only thought Brazil was the only country, like, ever; I remember the first time going to the U.S., and I was at the airport with everyone and I was like, ‘Wow, these are strange, weird-looking people, and I wonder if they know how weird they are,’ which is ironic because I was the one who was weird.”
