Women of The Alpha Club (later known as The Libertyville Women’s Club) was a group of women responsible for the creation of a lending library (the forerunner of Cook Memorial Library), which was a place for free-thinking women to discuss issues of the day. The Alpha Club Library was located on West Cook Street.

Mid 1970s The concept of Dairy Queen was founded in 1938 in Kankakee, Illinois, by a father-son duo who took to selling a frozen dairy product. After contacting a good friend, they teamed up with a friend who owned a local store. The ice cream became such a success that the franchise of Dairy Queen quickly took off, turning into the quick ice cream stop it continues to be.
