The Road to Dekalb: Bus Style

The road to state was taken by buses on Saturday, Nov. 28. Three coach buses left at 11: 45 a.m. carrying the football team. Two coach buses carrying the band left at 12 p.m., and a shared bus carrying cheer and poms left around 12:45 p.m. They were quickly followed by the three fan buses, who left the high school around 1 p.m..

Prior to their departure, the band had a field practice with poms at 11:30 in preparation for their halftime performance at the game. “It was fun but tense. You could really tell how much everyone wanted to win,” said senior band member Julia Wilson about the bus ride.

The cheerleaders and poms team prepared for the game by layering up and doing their hair, as well as applying temporary tattoos. They played music from speakers as they got excited for the final game of the season.

The three fan buses left the school at 1 p.m. to support the football team in Dekalb. In advance, fans paid $5 for a seat. There were approximately 20-30 people on each school bus.

“The atmosphere was very excited, everyone was really pumped for the game,” senior Maddie Bollinger described.
