The Bird Break In

The bird stayed in the field house until t was able to escape.

A bird became trapped in the field house on Thursday, March 19, and it eventually escaped when a door was left open.

“I came out of my room (216 at the end of the [English] hall) and I saw it flying over kids’ heads down the hallway… It’s not something you see every day,” said Mrs. Mary Kate Schoenbeck.

The bird flew for about two minutes before disappearing into the fieldhouse, where it stayed for a few days, according to  Mr. Chris Stancil, the assistant director of building and grounds.

“Everyone was screaming, laughing, pointing, freaking out. It was really energetic because it’s not something you see every day in a school,” Schoenbeck narrated. “A lot of people were poking their heads out of their classroom to get a peak.”

According to Mr. Stancil, the bird could have entered the school if someone left a window open due to nice weather. He stressed the importance of leaving windows without screens closed to prevent incidents similar to the bird.

“If you want to make your room cooler or warmer, you can just call down to Buildings and Grounds; we can adjust each section of the building individually” Mr. Stancil explained.
