On September 10th, 2025, the Libertyville Wildcats secured a landslide victory over the Lake Forest Scouts with the JV team winning 109-53 and the Varsity team winning 112-55.
The meet at the LHS natatorium consisted of 24 events beginning with the JV 200 yard medley relay and ending with the Varsity 400 yard freestyle relay. The Wildcats fought hard and stayed dedicated to keep a lead over the Scouts.
Going into this meet, Varsity head coach Greg Herman was very confident about the team’s chances of winning.
“[We’re] very positive. This is our second dual meet. We won our first. We anticipate winning this one. We’re young and enthusiastic, and the whole idea is to have fun and swim fast.” said Herman.
Despite the sheer talent of the team it takes much more than that to secure wins like the one they clinched on the 10th.
“Even though it’s an individual sport you still have to be a good teammate. It puts out that good atmosphere, ” Annie Lock, one of the Varsity captains said.
There has been lots of behind the scenes work, both in and out of the pool, building the girls swim team up to the level they’re at now.
“I would say like the team bonding events we do is definitely, like, the most fun and important part of the team, like, we do a bunch of Team trips, like to Richardson’s and Feed My Starving Children and that’s probably the best part.” Varsity swimmer Annie Buchert said.
“It definitely makes it like a special atmosphere. It’s not just swimming. We’re also a family.” said Katherine Anderson, another Varsity captain.
The Cats are back at home Tuesday, September 30th to take on the Warren Blue Devils.
