As graduation creeps closer and closer, 2025 graduates are getting ready to start the newest and one of the most important and exciting chapters of their lives. Whether you plan to go to college, take a gap year or enter the workforce, this is a big step into adulthood. Because of this reason, many family and friends may buy you accessories to help guide you through this new chapter of your life. My goal is that this article may give you some ideas of what to wish for, or even give you an idea of what to get a friend who is graduating this year.
As many students are getting ready to move out of their parents’ house and be on their own for the first time, there are many necessities that are needed. One gift that you can’t go wrong with is money, as when going into this new step of life, you will most likely need a lot of it. Some of the other basics include dishes, like plates, bowls, and cups, utensils and cooking wear like pots and pans. Although most colleges and universities have a cafeteria where you can order food, it’s good to save some money and cook for yourself at times. It’s also smart to invest in some paper plates and cups for those days that you don’t want to do the dishes.
One big thing to plan for is your future dorm/room. Recently, many college students have found interest in decorating and creating a theme and/or color scheme for their dorm. These themes can represent anything that you want, such as hippie/boho, sports, coquette or even just a mix of your favorite color schemes. A new dorm room gives students the perfect chance to create a space that is just right for them. Some great things to look out for are new sheets, (preferably twin size as that is the size of most dormitory beds), a new comforter and a whole new bed set. Many people like to decorate their dorm with things such as posters, fairy lights or things that are memorable.
While this can be a very hectic time in a person’s life, it is good to have things to do in your downtime to calm down and relax. This is why another popular item to get graduates is a gaming system or any item related to the hobbies or sports that the person enjoys. Some other examples are books, arts and crafts supplies, headphones, etc.
Aside from the dorm and kitchen essentials, school supplies are also a big need. As you go from class to class, a way to keep clean and concise notes is essential. While a notebook and a couple of pens can work, a laptop is a great gift to receive when going to college as you can use it for many things and can help with both schoolwork and boredom.
While you or possibly someone you know steps into this new phase of life, many things are essential. However, the most important essential is to stay focused on what really matters in your life, and to remain positive.
