Stageplayers showcases students through annual variety show

On Wednesday, May 4, 2023, Stageplayers hosted their second annual variety show in the studio theatre. A number of student performers displayed a variety of talents during the show, including singing, acrobatics and instrumentals. The variety show raised funds for A.B.L.E., a Chicago nonprofit organization that creates theatre and film for and by people with down syndrome and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. The audience was encouraged to contribute donations before and after the show using a QR code posted outside the theater doors.

Taking place during the French Revolution, Marius (Micheal Boman) and other townsmen fight government soldiers at the barricade. While most of the characters meet their end, the victories during this scene prove there will always be light in the darkness. “Les Misérables is a story about hope,” junior Julianna Rodriguez, who plays Cosette, said. There is so much darkness, but every dark night will end.”
