Icecats defeated by Carmel in OT
On Wednesday, Dec. 5, the District 128 boys hockey team, the IceCats, faced off against local rival Carmel in the “Battle of 176” as it’s known, referring to the street that separates Libertyville and Carmel Catholic High Schools. In a hard-fought game, the IceCats lost in an OT shootout, 3-2.
With the score tied at the end of regulation, the game was sent to a shootout. Carmel drove in the first shot, and then senior Kyle Junkunc and freshman Sean Goldberg both narrowly missed. The next shot, made by Carmel, was the winning shot. The IceCats look to bounce back against Warren next week, on Monday, Dec. 10.

![Wildcats do their pre -race circle that consists of chants and cheers to hype up the team. “I think cross country is such an interesting sport, in the way we're all kind of struggling together at the same time," senior Emme Fogle said. "[We have] comfort knowing that everyone's kind of going through the same thing. It's kind of incredible.”](https://www.lhsdoi.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Screenshot-2025-09-25-3.14.42-PM-600x361.png)
