Journalists empower their readers
Journalists write stories, columns and editorials for the purpose of spreading information and ideas. We delve into the unknown to present our readers with answers to their questions and the questions they didn’t even know they had. With these answers, the readers become more informed, more involved, and more empathetic individuals. The awareness that is caused by journalists gives people the opportunity to become better citizens who are more involved and who are advocates for change. There is inherent power to the words that journalists pen and that power is given to their readers.
