Athletes recognized at spring sports awards

On Wednesday, May 16, LHS student-athletes in spring sports attended the Spring Sports Awards.

LHS spring sports include baseball, softball, boys gymnastics, boys and girls lacrosse, girls soccer, badminton, boys volleyball, boys tennis, girls and boys track and field and boys and girls water polo.

Along with the Spring Sports Awards, winners of the Newsom Award were announced. This award is only available to seniors and is given to the best male and female athlete.

Boys water polo seizes senior night success over Highland Park

Junior middle hitter Jordan Coughlin (40) springs into the air to crush the ball over the net into Carmel territory. Coughlin was one of multiple players who earned kills, or unreturnable attacks, over the course of the night.

Boys volleyball fights hard against Glenbrook South Titans

Sophomores Roohee Patil and Nicole Mathews fight for their win against Glenbrook North’s Sydney Jon and Kayla Yoon, as Mathews lunges forward during their second game to secure the win. “They were close matches,” Patil said. “[We] have really good chemistry.”
