Formspring LHS Compliments, where the student body can discreetly compliment other kids attending LHS, gained 534 compliments in its first two days as a website. The creator, an LHS student who prefers to remain  anonymous, made it after seeing the positive impact compliment sites have had on other high schools.

Each compliment includes the first and last name of the person being complimented. The creator of LHS Compliments will notify the people complimented on the LHS Compliments facebook page, by tagging them in a post.

“I think it’s good. High school’s not the best place for self-confidence, but compliments help boost (it),” said junior Robby Nader.

Compliments can be left on the formspring page without having an account. The page won’t even ask for information.

“People can hide behind their keyboard to say things they wouldn’t dare to in person, whether they’re positive or negative,” said freshman Yasmin Schamilogle.

Students can post whatever they want, but each comment has to be approved before it goes onto the site. Some comments have to be denied because of sarcasm or negativity, but the majority are kept.

“LHS Compliments is a place for positivity and encouragement and nothing else. Some people have posted joking comments with fake names or celebrities, but if they’re funny then I see them as harmless. However, if those kind of comments become more extensive, I will stop posting them,” said the site’s anonymous creator through Facebook.

The creator of LHS Compliments is a girl, but she has chosen not to share any more information. She’d like to keep it anonymous because it’s about the posts, not who created it.
