Junior Kaitlin Woodyard has taken on the responsibility this year of Executive Board President.

Kaitlin originally ran for Vice President last year along with four others. But when no one ran for President, she was recommended by Mr. Beach for the job because she was the most qualified and had the most references. She gallantly accepted the job.

“I've been on student council for all of high school. I love it,” she said.

Kaitlin plans on making some changes to school this year. She wants to get everyone involved in the decision- making process and planning of school events.

“Our goal this year is to make student council huge and get everyone participating. We need more school spirit outside of Wildcat football. We have an amazing school and are so fortunate,” she said.

Kaitlin was very nervous about taking on the job of president as a junior seeing since the LHS executive board is almost always run by a senior. And since she wasn‘t elected to her position she feels it puts more pressure on her to do well, especially in front of the seniors.

“It took so much courage that I didn't know I had to speak in front of everyone. It may or may not have seemed like it, but I was incredibly nervous,” she said.

Kaitlin hopes to achieve maximum support this year as well as respect from all grades. Her jobs as president (and part of student council) include announcements, assemblies, recycling paper, Homecoming, Turnabout, the Canned Food Drive, Prom, the September 11th memorial, the Freshman Dance, elections, the blood drive and several more.

Mrs. Delaney and Mrs. Rogers, supervisors of the Executive Board, are very pleased with how well Kaitlin has adjusted to her position.

“We’re very proud of her. She’s a great leader, and she’s doing a great job,” Mrs. Rogers said.

Mrs. Delaney said they have been doing very well with their goal to get more students involved in the activities of LHS, especially with all of the freshman and their eager effort and determination towards joining student council.

“This year we’ve seen great participation. Freshman are showing a lot of enthusiasm,” Delaney said.
