What do your dreams mean? Research shows that situations in your waking life can influence or parallel situations in your dreams. Dreams can be very important and revealing if you know what they are trying to tell you. Whether you are flying or falling off a cliff, you should always figure out what your dreams mean.

You are in a forest, running away from something trying to harm you. You try to hide, but what you are running from always finds you and you have to keep running.

To dream of being chased symbolizes avoiding a situation in your waking life. This dream could also be triggered by feelings of insecurity or anxiety. The attacker may also represent an unpleasant attitude you are running away from.

You are walking along when, unexpectedly, you nosedive off a cliff. You wake up with a spasm.

When you dream of falling, it often represents insecurities or falling behind in a situation. It could also represent feelings of losing control, as there is no foothold.

You are standing in a public place when you realize that you aren’t wearing any clothes. People around you start to notice, and you feel very embarrassed and exposed.

Being naked in a dream signifies feelings of vulnerability. You may be hiding something that you are afraid other people will figure out. This dream also characterizes a fear of being ridiculed. Also, it could mean you are feeling unprepared.

You are flying above everyone else. Your techniques are adequate, and you can control where you are going.

Dreams about succeeding at flying usually represent overcoming a situation and dealing with current situations in the right way. You may also have found a different point of view.

You are speaking to someone, when, all of a sudden, your teeth start to rot and fall out. The other person is disgusted with you.

Dreams in which your teeth rot or fall out mean that you are self-conscious and have a fear of being embarrassed. You may also feel powerless in a current situation.

You are driving a car, but the gas pedal isn’t working and your car goes faster and faster. You can no longer control the vehicle.

Dreams about car troubles or crashes usually symbolize out of control feelings or emotions. If it is difficult to see out the windshield, it represents uncertainty about the future. If you are experiencing flat tires or mechanical problems, it represents sadness.

You are at school and receive a test to take. However, the questions are in a different language, causing you to fail.

When you fail a test in a dream, it shows that you are concerned about not living up to expectations and may not be working to the best of your ability. You also may lack confidence or be in a stressful situation.

You are in your house when some burglars break in. They begin to steal your things and wreak havoc on your house.

Dreams about burglars mean that you are feeling violated and helpless. You also may be experiencing a major change in your life.

You see an animal and approach it. As you get closer, the animal begins to attack you.

Being attacked by an animal in a dream indicates that you should be careful with the people who are close to you. The attacker’s attributes should be noted, as they can often times correspond with the attributes of the person.

You are completely alone. You can’t find any other people no matter where you look.

If you are alone in your dream, you may be feeling rejected or abandoned. You may also think that no one understands you.

There is a tornado near you, ripping up everything in its path, including you, if you don’t run.

Tornadoes stand for emotional outbursts or temper tantrums. They may also foreshadow major life changes. However, you may just have a fear of tornadoes.

During my five weeks of having poured over Drops of Ink, this is the first time I have come across Katy Marhenke's work. And by God, I am struck dumb at the amount of talent that roams in the Drops of Ink halls. Not only did Katy so eloquently write about the very dreams I experience, but my actual life. I often find myself sprinting through the woods for hours at a time, unsure of what I'm running from, and just today, I received a test written in French that I simply could not understand despite having studied the language for six years. It is truly a relief to know what these incidents truly mean. Like the tornados. Especially the tornados. The only complaint I have for Katy is that she should write more often-- her work is too precious to come across only four times in the whole newspaper. I salute you, Katy Marhenke, and your inspired prose.
