Season storyline:
The Wildcats varsity hockey team did very well in the beginning of the season. They had a four -game winning streak. The Wildcats are looking strong in the playoff season, which started on February 4. The team won their first game but lost their second game against Fremd; Fremd came out on top with the score 6-3. Most Spectacular moment:
“Our most exciting game was against Crystal Lake South who finished second in our league and is a very talented team. They were up by two goals going into the third period on their Senior Night. We came back to tie the game 4-4 with 29 seconds left after pulling our goalie, and almost won it with just a few seconds remaining,” said Varsity Coach, Shawn Brown.
Playoff outlook:
“We hope to win the Founders Cup and excel in the state,” said junior Blake Dobson.
We are playing well going into the playoffs and look to bring home the Founders Cup. Our first state game is 2/27/12 at Glacier 8:40p.m. vs Batavia. I hope we are able to get a big crowd to the game in order to energize our players,” said Coach Brown.
Quote:
“If I could sum our season into one word, it would be ‘hilarious’ because we as a team are really close and we have a good time together,” said Dobson.
“A key factor this year has been our ability to improve even though we have had a number of injuries to key players. The players have really come together as a team and are ready to win in the playoffs and states,” said Coach Brown.
