The Food: Five guys has one of the simplest menus of any other competing restaurant. Burger, Hot Dog, Veggie Burger, Fries, Coke. The burger comes with a multitude of toppings so that makes up for the lack of variety. However, while the menu is limited, the burger I had there was definitely one of the better ones I have eaten in my life. It is not the best burger in Libertyville, but if you have a hankering for a good burger, Five Guys can satisfy.

The Atmosphere: If you can imagine an ‘80s burger joint this comes pretty close. Think Steak n’ Shake with the kitchen right in your face. When you walk in, there are anywhere from 10 to 17 employees standing either behind the kitchen or at the register awaiting your request. Cuservice is high, including customer hunting when an order if left unattended.

The Price: Over the last few years, prices for a lunch meal have (in my mind) increased. This trend continues with Five Guys. The frustratingly labeled Cheeseburger, (which is actually a DOUBLE cheeseburger) is close to a whopping six dollars. That is normally enough for a meal by itself, but the extra four dollars from fries and a drink really sets you back. But you definitely get more than enough for the cost of fries. A regular size is more than enough for even the most hungry of teens.

The Verdict: While the burger is definitely an exceptional treat and worthy of a gander if you have never been there before, it hardly warrants a lengthy and out-of-the-way drive. The price will also steer people away. But when you’re in the mood for a high quality, solid burger, Five Guys can accommodate with its meal and very appropriate placing location.
